Description	From the Ellin (Joseph and Nancy) Freedom Summer Collection; Report describing the beginning of the Mississippi Freedom Labor Union (MFLU), which was founded in Shaw, Mississippi, to work for higher wages for cotton choppers and truck drivers. Members of the MFLU went on strike in 1965, demanding an increase in wages from $3.50 a day to $1.25 an hour and an 8-hour work day. Several involved in the strike were arrested, and the highest increase in wages was to $4.50 a day. Requests contributions to support future strikes and the expansion of the union.
