He holds a salt shaker, labeled "Strategic Arms Limitation Talks" above a dove, labeled "Elusive world peace" which has an olive branch in its beak. Uncle Sam is shaking salt onto the dove's tail. The dove is perched on a branch and is looking over its shoulder at the falling salt. Lines around the dove indicate fear. The cartoon caption reads, "We'll try anything."
