Description	From the AAEC Editorial Cartoon Collection. Cartoon by Eldon Pletcher. Richard Nixon and a elephant dressed in a suit stand in a circle of light from an overhead spotlight. Nixon and the elephant have raised their clasped hands. The illuminated area is labeled, "First ballot nomination" and a political sign that reads, "Maine" is also seen. Outside the lit area, Nelson Rockefeller and Ronald Reagan are in the shadows. Rockefeller says, "Can't see what their hurry was." The cartoon caption reads, "Spotlight and shadow."
