-paign. the weather is cool and cloudy. i predict for our army a hard campaign this winter. indeed, we have had a hard time ever since the 1 st of may. they have had another fight in virginia. is it possible that tom and henry still survive? i fear not. i

23rd july, 1862 as i didn't send this letter off yesterday, i will simply add that i am still improving. tom is unwell with diarrhea. henry is well. i am going to richmond today on business. love to all. kiss precious for me. w.h.h.
