Eastland of Mississippi to the press about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., and the upcoming SCLC convention to be held in Jackson, Mississippi. The statement suggests that Senator Eastland's comments will invoke violence, intimidation, and harassment by officials and citizens there. Jackson is compared to cities such as Atlanta and Birmingham where past SCLC conventions were held. According to this statement, senators in those states made no negative comments regarding the conventions.
