The Rare Book Digital Collection contains a selection of rare books from the Special Collections in McCain Library & Archives.
The Rare Book Collection is comprised of materials relating to the history of the South, the Civil War, the history of printing, philosophy, religion, among other topics. McCain Library & Archives has 3500 books that belonged to Cleanth Brooks, a leading literary critic of the twentieth century and cofounder of the Southern Review. This collection contains materials relating to literary criticism, poetry, Southern literature, and Romanticism. The Sam Woods Collection is also found in Special Collections. This collection contains over 800 books mainly in German or Latin dating from 1565. The majority of these books concern religion, history, and philosophy.
