The Herbert Randall Freedom Summer Photographs Digital Collection contains a selection of items from the Herbert Randall manuscript collection in McCain Library & Archives. The photographs include images of violence against volunteers, voter registration canvassing, the Mississippi Freedom Democratic Party, Freedom Schools, the Free Southern Theatre, and a Picnic at the home of Vernon Dahmer, which was the official beginning of the Hattiesburg Project.
The collection includes some photographs digitized as part of a National Leadership Grant awarded in 2001 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the Civil Rights in Mississippi Digital Archive, as well as items digitized as part of National Leadership Grant awarded in 2003 from the Institute of Museum and Library Services for the Mississippi Digital Library.
