.
Discusses
the
delegation's
refusal
to
accept
the
compromise
offered
by the
Credentials
Committee
on the
basis
that
it
did
not
recognize
the
MFDP
as a
legitimate
political
party
. The
gesture
of the
Credentials
Committee
was
considered
token
by the
delegation
. The
convention
challenge
was an
effort
by the
MFDP
to
unseat
the
delegation
of the
regular
Democratic
Party
from
Mississippi
on the
basis
that
it
was
racist
in
nature
and
did
not
represent
all
Mississippians
.
