Transcript	Camp near Richmond March the 7 1864 My Dear Mary, I seat myself this morning to write you a few lines to inform you that I am well today and have bin ever since I left you. Truly whoping when those few lines come to hand you may be enjoying the same. I have no news of importance to write to you. We have bin garding some roads ever since I have bin here. The Calaldry is between us & the Yankees. They cavald tuck four negro prisoners since I got back to my Regment. I met them in road myself, that is fact. I never thaught that we had to fight the negro Regments before I saw them. Now I am satisfied that we have got to fight the whole world. That is one thing that I hate. We have to face the trash of the world.
