My Dear Mary,
I seat myself this morning to write you a few lines to let you know that I am well. Truly whoping when those few lines come to hand you may be enjoying the same blessings. I have not herd from you since the day we last parted. I would be verry glad to here from you. Write to me as soon as you can get the chance. I have no news of importance to write. The pickets all on our portion of the line are quiet. I am in hopse they will remain so all the time. Our Regment is doing the picket duty on the Chickahoming River. I went down to dress parrade yesterday eavening to here the orders redont. Ten men is to be shot to death next Friday
