I seat myself in hand to write you a few lines to inform you that I am well. Truly whipping when those few lines come to hand that you may be enjoying the same blessing. We are in camp about four miles from the Chickahomany River. We are garding the bridge across that river. My Company went out this morning. Two Companies has to go out on picket at the time. I am on gard at Mr. Doggetts house near camp. We have to stand only two in the night. We have drew only five days of meat since the first day of March, that was one half pound of bacon.
