I take the pleasful opportunity of writing you a few lines to inform you that I am well at this time. Truly hoping when those few lines come to hand you may be enjoying the same blessing. I have no news to write of any importance. I surpose mews comes from the Yankees comes to us evry two or three hours. We herd there was a large force of Yankees down on the Showan River. That is 35 or 40 miles from here. it is surposed that they intend to try to get to Weldon, to burn the bridge across the Roanoke River. I expect we will go back to Virginia in a few days. We came here to gard the railroad. Is trew, if they come will fight
