Dear Wife,
I recieved your letter dated the seventh. Ditto yesterday eavening and I was verry glad to here from you. I am well. I weighed the other day & I weigh one hundred & sixty nine pounds & a half. Gained thirteen pounds & a half since I left home. I want you to write me word hwo has bin killing such goddam lies on me as that. I under you to say that you herd that I said I would not have come to the war if it had not have bin for you. I give that the goddam hellfired lies & want you to write me word hwo toled it anyhow. I did not know that there was any boddy in the world meaner nough (mean enough) to tell such lyes on anybody as that. I may come home about Chrystmast if nothing happens. I am sore mutch pestered about my leters being broken open that I cant write. I am verry sorry that you are so mutch dissatisfied. You must move to your Farthers and stay there til I come home. If your Farther & Mother are willing for you to come back and make that your home. You must
