March the 24 1863
My Dear Mary,
I take the pleasureful opportunity of answering you kind letter of the first of March. I recieved it last night at roal call. It was mailed at Swansonville. I have no news of any importance to write. Wee have had the heavyest snow that I evr saw. It was two feet deep in some places where it did not melt all the time it was fawling. Prince George is remarkable for standing water. The whole camp is in a float of water. It is not verry agreeable for me to have to wade threw the water but I am here & cant get away.
