My Dearest Mary,
I seat myself this eavning to write you a few lines to inform that I am well except a slight attact of reumatism. I have had the reumatism ever since I left home. I am in hopse I will get well of it soon though Dr. Lippet sais I will have to suffer a greateal with that deseas. They say I will have to ware it out before I will get shot of it. Washington is well. All the Company are getting along tolerable well except Hicks & Bouldin. Capt. Martin is going to try to get Bouldin a furlough to gowe home til he gets well. He has bin sick ever since I left home and he looks verry well. He has got the reumatism in the back. I have nowe news to write worth one sent. Capt. Martin & several other Captains went to Norfolk to get recruits & boats. They had to come back without any. They have got to wait & let the them
