Description	From the Miller (Michael J.) Civil Rights Collection; This document consists of three previously published news stories about Student Nonviolent Coordinating Committee (SNCC) field secretary and Mississippi native Samuel Block. The articles discuss Block's voter registration activities and the threats and beatings he received from some white Mississippians for his involvement in the Civil Rights movement. The first article"Volunteers have received death threats" was originally published in Look,27: (10) on May 21, 1963. The second article"Burnings, jailing, shooting reported in Greenwood, Miss.);" was originally published on May 16, 1963, in Jet, 24: (4)" The third article, titled "Combat Story" is from the March 19, 1963 edition of the New York Post.
