Now was our time, but oh, night closes the scene. Oh, could we like good old Joshua have commanded the sun to stand still for six hours, we would have killed, captured and [illegible] the combined army of Pope Burnside and McClellan. But we could not, night closed the scene, and we lay down on the bloody field to rest our weary frames, which after the excitement was over, were completely
