My Dear Sallie,
I wrote to you a few days ago informing you that I was on sick leave, and hence I know you would like to hear from me again. I am still improving and but for my blistered feet, I would be able to rejoin my company. Henry Daniel of my company has just arrived here from camp, and our troops are still falling back this way. The Yankees, thirty thousand strong, advanced to Rappahannock Bridge yesterday and commenced illegible we blew it up and fell back. A illegible may get into a fight to illegible, but I think it doubtful illegible perhaps make a decided stand illegible Rappahannock River which is [illegible] miles west of this.
I have received letters from you directed to Manassas [illegible] 2nd and 10th of March. I am very anxious to hear from you and Sister Mary to know how you are making out housekeeping. I fear you [illegible] well but you must do the best you can till I return when I will endeavor to set things to rights. I didn't see your Pa in Brandon and for reasons unnecessary to state, I sent the $100 by Sister Mary, though if your Pa [illegible] for money, let him have $100.
