Transcript	Raleigh Mississippi April 23rd 1860 Miss Sallie: Yours of the 19th, Inst. came duly to hand by the mail of the 20th, and has been carefully perused and considered and I concur in your opinions – 1st that my communication contained matters of great importance, of deep moment, and deserves the gravest thought and consideration – aye! serious deliberation; 2ndly, expressions of feelings on paper forms an unsatisfactory and imperfect method of ascertaining one’s disposition and temperament which in matter of this kind are supremely important. All persons who look at marriage in its proper light must admit that it is an institution which was designed and established for the mutual benefit and
