Biography
Kathleen " Kat" Bergeron was born on April 23, 1950 to Roy Louis and Cotton Louella Gayle Bergeron. She attended Gulfport East High School and the W. Page Pitt School of Journalism at Marshal University in Huntington, West Virginia. From 1995 to 1996, Ms. Bergeron attended University College Cork in Cork, Ireland, as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar.
For over twenty years Ms. Bergeron has been a feature writer and columnist for the Sun Herald. She is also a teacher of Gulf Coast history and folklore for the Elderhostel Program. A recipient of numerous honors from the Mississippi Press Association and the Louisiana- Mississippi Associated Press, Ms. Bergeron has received recognition in categories including Best Feature Story, Personal Columns, and Community Service. The City of Biloxi named Ms. Bergeron the Volunteer of the Year for the Arts in 1995 and the Historian of the Year in 1989.
Ms. Bergeron enjoys hiking, traveling, and restoring arts and crafts. She is a frequent volunteer for arts organizations such as the George Ohr Museum in Biloxi.
