Biography
Mr. George Saxon was born in Waynesboro, Mississippi, on March 30, 1927. Mr. Saxon was drafted towards the end of World War II, and shortly after his discharge from the military, he began his career with the Mississippi Highway Patrol as a dispatcher. In 1964, he attended the FBI National Academy and, after graduation, was assigned as a criminal investigator with the highway patrol. Mr. Saxon continued to work with the patrol and retired in 1986 as chief of the Mississippi Highway Patrol and assistant commissioner of public safety. After retiring from the highway patrol, Mr. Saxon served as director of public safety for Biloxi, Mississippi, until 1989.
Mr. Saxon lives in Gulfport, Mississippi, with his wife, the former Elizabeth Ann McRae. Mr. and Mrs. Saxon have one daughter and two grandchildren.

| Description | Oral history.; Interview conducted on June 3, 1993 with Mr. George Saxon, formerly of the Mississippi Highway Safety Patrol as an investigator, at his home in Gulfport, Mississippi. Saxon was born on March 30, 1927 in Waynesboro, Mississippi. After his discharge from the military at the end of World War II, he began his career with the Mississippi Highway Patrol as a dispatcher.
