Biography
Reverend Arthur Lewis, Jr., was born on October 29, 1948, in Forest Home, Alabama, the son of Lillie Mae Boggan and Arthur Lewis Sr. He grew up in Pensacola, Florida, where he was graduated from high school in 1967. From Jackson State University, he earned a B. S. W. degree, and from Emory University Chandler School of Theology, he received a Master's degree in Theology.
Reverend Lewis was ordained Deacon ( 1985) by Bishop Robert Morgan. He was ordained Elder by Bishop Marshall L. Meadors, Jr., in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. Reverend Lewis served Valena C. Jones Memorial United Methodist Church in Bay St. Louis, Mississippi, St. Rock United Methodist in Waveland, Mississippi, and Holmes Chapel in Pearlington, Mississippi. In central Mississippi, Reverend Lewis served the Forest Charge which included four churches, Lynch Chapel United Methodist Church, Sherman Hill, Green Grove, and Mars Hill United Methodist Churches. He is presently serving the St. Paul United Methodist Church in Biloxi.
Reverend Lewis is a pastor, builder, fund- raiser, counselor, teacher, camper, carpenter, father, and husband. He is a member of the National Association of Social Workers, Mississippi Annual Conference, Camping and Retreat of Mississippi Conference, Building and Location for Seashore District, Habitat Ministry Harrison County, Finance and Audit Seashore District, Biloxi Ministerial Association, Gulf Coast Ministerial Association, Seashore Assembly Board, Seashore Mission Board, New Church Development, Biloxi Lions Club, Volunteer for Professional Home Health, and Chair for Biloxi Tricentennial Committee.
Traveling by Reverend Lewis has taken him to forty- eight of the fifty states, as well as medical mission trips to Jamaica and many other continents.
