Biography
Mr. Larry Hudson Jr. was born on January 16, 1936, in an integrated area of Biloxi, Mississippi. His parents were Corinne Williams and Lawrence Hudson Sr., whose parents were unable to talk or hear from birth. After serving in the U. S. Army in Germany from 1958 to 1960, Larry Hudson Jr. earned a B. S. degree from Jackson State University in 1963. He worked in the Civil Rights Movement while at Jackson State University and embarked upon a teaching career in Mississippi and later California, from which he retired in 1994. Before returning to Mississippi in 1996, he was elected to the executive board of the San Francisco Teachers Union in 1971, and he was a program consultant for the district's community outreach. He has been active in the Knights of Peter Claver, the NAACP, and the Elks Lodge, where he does the newsletter and works with youth.
