Biography
Reverend Edmund Howell was one of thirteen children born to Osborn Howell and Pinkie Austin Howell on November 14, 1917, in Jackson, Alabama. His father worked at the locks on the Tombigbee River. School and church were important in his childhood, as well as responsibility for helping to keep the family's household running successfully.
Reverend Howell spent about three years in the United States military service in the South Pacific. He worked with the Army Engineers on Government Street Loop, Mobile, Alabama, recovering sunken barges. In 1950, Reverend Howell moved to Biloxi, Mississippi. In 1971, he was called to the ministry. He is currently the associate minister and teacher of a men's Sunday school class at Main Street Baptist Church, in Biloxi.
