Biography
Horace H. Harned Jr. is a former Mississippi legislator who served in both houses and was an active segregationist during the years of the civil rights movements. For a more complete biography, please refer to the Mississippi Oral History Program's first interview with Mr. Harned in 1976.

This is an interview for the Mississippi Oral History Program of The University of Southern Mississippi with Horace H. Harned Jr. of Starkville, Mississippi. He is a former Mississippi state legislator and member of the Mississippi State Sovereignty Commission. This interview was recorded at Mr. Harned's home in Starkville, Mississippi, on November 3, 1993. The interviewer is Yasuhiro Katagiri, a Fulbright scholar from Tokyo, Japan, studying at USM. Mr. Katagiri: Mr. Harned, thank you very much for taking time to record this oral history today. It is my real honor to be able to interview you today. I understand that Mr. Tom Healy interviewed you in 1976 for the Mississippi Oral History Program at USM.
