Biography
Reverend Oliver D. Gilmer was born in rural Kentucky on May 31, 1927. As he grew up on a farm, he attended a one- teacher school from primer through the eighth grade. During World War II, he was drafted into the Army. He served in the military during World War II, the Korean War, and the Vietnam War, and then retired with twenty- three years of military service. In 1967, Reverend Gilmer entered the ministry. During his career, he earned his master's degree.
